Strukturierung, unter Vorbedingungen errechnete Repräsentation

Auch hier "sehen" wir keine DNA, sondern nur eine berechnete Repräsentation, wie DNA aussehen könnte. Der DNA-Forschung ist es bisher nicht möglich die Doppelhelix sichtbar zu machen. Was aber der Forschung keinen Abbruch tut. Es kommt schließlich auf die rechnerische Strukturisierung an, nicht auf dreidimensionale, optisch sichtbare Stränge an denen dann rumgewerkelt wird.

Aus einem privaten Gespräch:

"The important topic is not what DNA looks like, but how DNA is structured. One cannot see the DNA or a molecule in general. We do make pictures of DNA, but those are only representations, not the real thing. For us, the most important thing about atoms and molecules is how they are structured when they make up matter. When scientists say that is what molecule X looks like, it is just a simplified expression of how molecule X is structured. No scientist actually thinks they can see or look at a molecule / DNA. We know nothing about the real thing."

Bei Atomen besteht sogar das Problem, dass der für eine errechnete Repräsentation notwendige Beschuss mit Elektronen das Objekt der Begierde zerstört.
