Hier ist die Meldung von 2010 über den joint US-China Effort:
https://www.niaid.nih.gov/research/us-china-collaborative-biomedical-research-program

U.S.-China Program for Biomedical Research Cooperation, which aims to enhance cooperative biomedical research of benefit to both countries.

In the first year of the program, applications were open for basic, translational, behavioral, clinical, preventive, or epidemiological research projects in the areas of allergy, immunology, infectious diseases, and cancer. The JWG decided to fund 34 grant supplements and intramural research projects to support U.S. investigators collaborating with Chinese colleagues. The NSFC provided complementary funding to support the Chinese investigators.

In the second year of the program, investigators were invited to submit research projects that covered various areas of cancer, mental health, immunology, and infectious diseases (including HIV/AIDS and its co-morbidities). The JWG decided to fund 42 awards to U.S. and Chinese collaborating investigators.

Und hier die Beendigung im Mai 2020:

Political pressure almost certainly played a part in the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) sudden termination of a grant it had awarded to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China for joint research on coronaviruses in bats and their potential to jump into humans.

Originally funded by the Obama administration with a $3.7 million (£2.98 million) grant that was held by the New York-based non-profit EcoHealth Alliance, the project was criticised because it supported joint research activities with WIV. Some senior political figures have claimed, without evidence, that the WIV is the source of the virus, rather than the Wuhan wet market.

Hier noch ein interessantes Zitat aus einer US State Department offiziellen Meldung vom 15.1.2021:

https://2017-2021.state.gov/fact-sheet-activity-at-the-wuhan-institute-of-virology/inde...

We have not determined whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals or was the result of an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan, China.

Prof. Roland Wiesendanger von der Uni Hamburg wurde vom Spiegel und von den Medienhxxxn getrasht, weil er genau diese Variante öffentlich GEFRAGT hatte und zur DISKUSSION gestellt hatte. Das US State Department veröffentlicht GENAU DAS hier. Normalerweise sind doch Spiegel & Co Medienhxxxn der USA - wieso denn hier nicht?

Und weiter aus der State Department Quelle:
The virus could have emerged naturally from human contact with infected animals, spreading in a pattern consistent with a natural epidemic. Alternatively, a laboratory accident could resemble a natural outbreak if the initial exposure included only a few individuals and was compounded by asymptomatic infection. Scientists in China have researched animal-derived coronaviruses under conditions that increased the risk for accidental and potentially unwitting exposure.

Accidental infections in labs have caused several previous virus outbreaks in China and elsewhere, including a 2004 SARS outbreak in Beijing that infected nine people, killing one.
